In line with its commitment to enhancing the health and well-being of its academic community, the Faculty of Philosophy at Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) has established the Health Promoting University (HPU) Work Team, as stated in the Dean’s Decree No. 48/UN1.FFI/KPT/SDM/2024. The team is led by the Head of the Faculty Administration Office, Zainal Mustofa, S.S., with Shoim Mardiyah, S.Fil., M.Sc. serving as the Coordinator for Training, Facilities, and Infrastructure.

As an initial step in formulating the action plan for the newly formed HPU team, the Faculty of Philosophy organized a Workshop on Developing the HPU Work Plan on Tuesday, September 17, at the Faculty’s Union Meeting Room. The workshop featured two expert speakers: Prof. Dra. Yayi Suryo Prabandari, M.Si., Ph.D., and Dr. Supriyati, S.Sos., M.Kes., both of whom serve as the Chair and Secretary of the UGM HPU, respectively. They shared strategic insights into the development of HPU programs.

“Today, we will learn a great deal, and this is an essential part of fulfilling our duty to educate our students,” stated the Dean of the Faculty of Philosophy, Dr. Rr. Siti Murtiningsih, S.S., M.Hum., during her opening remarks.

The HPU team at the Faculty of Philosophy consists of seven Work Groups (Pokja), each with a specific responsibility in promoting health initiatives within the campus environment. These seven Work Groups are as follows: the Physical Activity Work Group, led by Dr. M. Rodinal Khair Khasri, S.Fil., M.Phil.; the Tobacco, Drugs, and Alcohol Prevention Work Group, led by Rangga Kala Mahaswa, S.Fil., M.Phil.; and the Posbindu and Health Literacy Work Group, led by Dr. Laily Muthmainnah, S.Fil., M.A.

Additionally, there is the Mental Health Work Group, led by Dela Khoirul Ainia, S.Fil., M.Phil.; the Healthy Eating Habits Work Group, led by Rona Utami, S.Fil., M.Fil.; the Healthy, Safe, and Disability-Friendly Environment Work Group, led by Taufiqurrahman, S.Fil., M.Phil.; and the Prevention of Harassment, Violence, Bullying, and Reproductive Health Work Group, led by Sri Yulita Pramulia Panani, S.Fil., M.Phil.

The HPU team at UGM has praised the Faculty of Philosophy’s initiative in forming a comprehensive HPU team with a well-organized set of work groups, in line with UGM’s HPU program priorities. They hope that the spirit of healthy living will be embraced by all members of the Faculty of Philosophy, and that this initiative can serve as a model for other faculties at UGM.

“We appreciate that the Faculty of Philosophy has created a full set of work groups. It’s important to remember that HPU belongs to all of us, and the spirit of healthy living should belong to everyone, not just the HPU work group,” said Dr. Supriyati.

Prof. Yayi Suryo Prabandari presented on the Health Promoting University program at UGM, while Dr. Supriyati delivered a talk on the HPU Work Plan within the Faculty. After the presentations, a session was held for the formulation of individual work plans for each Work Group.

All members of the HPU team were present and actively participated in the discussions, with the expectation that these discussions would result in concrete and sustainable work plans to support a healthier and more prosperous campus environment. This activity marks an important first step for the Faculty of Philosophy in realizing a healthy campus in line with the Health Promoting University concept, which emphasizes health as an integral part of academic life and campus community well-being.
