The Faculty of Philosophy, Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), held an Alumni Gathering on Saturday, December 14, 2024, at the Faculty of Philosophy UGM. The event was attended by alumni from various generations, from the 1970s to the 2000s. Despite the rain, the enthusiasm and spirit of the alumni remained strong, creating a warm and familial atmosphere.
The event began with the handover of the Chairmanship of KAGAMA Philosophy from Ahmad Charis Zubair (Chairman of KAGAMA Philosophy for the 2019-2024 period) to Aryaning Arya Kresna (Chairman of KAGAMA Philosophy for the 2024-2029 period). In his remarks, Nezar Patria, the Secretary-General of the Central Board of KAGAMA and Vice Minister of Communications and Digital Affairs of Indonesia, expressed gratitude for the opportunity to meet again.
“From the 1970s to the 2000s, everyone is here, and even though it’s raining, we remain enthusiastic and united. KAGAMA Philosophy has played an important role in KAGAMA. Although the number of our alumni is not as large as other faculties, we have been able to take on key roles. The traditions of knowledge, brotherhood, and mutual respect for differences are strong assets in our organization and provide great confidence in facing challenges,” said Nezar.
Ahmad Charis Zubair, the previous Chairman of KAGAMA Philosophy, reflected on his tenure, which was mostly spent during the COVID-19 pandemic, forcing many activities to be held virtually. “The previous leadership has ended, and I congratulate Arya for becoming the new leader. I hope this reunion helps us reunite, and the atmosphere we experienced on campus becomes something beneficial in the future,” he said.
Aryaning Arya Kresna, the new Chairman of KAGAMA Philosophy for the 2024-2029 period, expressed his commitment to developing the organization as much as possible. “For the next five years, let’s work together to make KAGAMA Philosophy a large umbrella that can shelter and make us all happy. Let’s support each other,” he said.
On this occasion, Dr. Iva Ariani, S.S., M.Hum., the Vice Dean for Research, Community Service, Cooperation, and Alumni at the Faculty of Philosophy UGM, also thanked the alumni for their outstanding support. “This event is not just a reunion, but also a place for beneficial discussions that can be felt by both students and faculty. The role of alumni is crucial for improving the curriculum and advancing the Faculty of Philosophy in the future,” explained Dr. Iva.
In addition, the event included the presentation of awards to outstanding students, which was a highly appreciated moment by the alumni. To conclude, the event was enlivened by a musical performance that further strengthened the bond between alumni, faculty members, and students.
This Alumni Gathering at the Faculty of Philosophy UGM was not just a reunion, but also a platform to strengthen brotherhood, share experiences, and reinforce the commitment to advancing the Faculty of Philosophy and KAGAMA Philosophy in the future.
