The Faculty of Philosophy, Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), welcomed a delegation from SMA Negeri 8 Depok on Tuesday morning. Held in the Persatuan Room, 3rd Floor, the event was attended by 150 students and teachers, aiming to provide an in-depth introduction to UGM and the Faculty of Philosophy.

Dr. Rizal Mustansyir, M.Hum., as the main speaker, opened the session by introducing UGM’s long history as an educational institution dedicated to community service and the development of national leaders. He also highlighted UGM’s strengths, including its international reputation and fair, inclusive student admission pathways.

In a special session about the Faculty of Philosophy, Dr. Rizal explained the uniqueness of the faculty as a space for developing critical and reflective thinking. He elaborated on the curriculum, which covers various aspects of philosophical thought, ethics, and cultural philosophy. Additionally, he discussed career prospects for philosophy graduates, emphasizing opportunities in education, research, media, and public policy development.

The session became even more engaging with an interactive Q&A segment. Students and teachers enthusiastically asked questions about topics such as UGM’s admission requirements, scholarship opportunities, and the role of philosophy in everyday life. Their questions reflected a strong interest and curiosity about the world of higher education.

The visit concluded with a group photo and an exchange of souvenirs. The Faculty of Philosophy UGM hopes that activities like this will continue to serve as a bridge between secondary and higher education, fostering a generation of critical and ethical thinkers.
