The Faculty of Philosophy at Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) held a communal iftar gathering on Tuesday (March 3) at the faculty’s courtyard. The event brought together all members of the faculty—from students to academic and administrative staff—in a warm and convivial atmosphere.

The iftar gathering is one of the faculty’s annual traditions in welcoming the holy month of Ramadan. In addition to breaking the fast together, the event featured a religious lecture delivered by Prof. drh. Agung Budiyanto, M.P., Ph.D., a professor from UGM’s Faculty of Veterinary Medicine.

In her remarks, the Dean of the Faculty of Philosophy, Prof. Dr. Rr. Siti Murtiningsih, S.S., M.Hum., emphasized the importance of the event as a means of strengthening solidarity and nurturing intergenerational bonds.

“Let us use this moment to strengthen solidarity and foster togetherness across generations. A university is not only a place to sharpen intellectual abilities, but also a space to cultivate character,” she said.

Her statement reflects the Faculty of Philosophy’s commitment to fostering not only academic excellence but also humanistic values and social awareness. The communal iftar is expected to remain a meaningful tradition that reinforces the bonds among members of the faculty’s academic community, while embodying the core values upheld by the discipline—wisdom, togetherness, and care for others.
