The Faculty of Philosophy at Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) received a visit from the President Director of PT Pos Indonesia (Persero), Faizal Rochmad Djoemadi, on Friday (22/3). During his visit, he toured Archipelago Café, a co-working space and Entrepreneurship Laboratory established by the Faculty of Philosophy UGM with support from Pos Indonesia. He also engaged in discussions with the faculty leadership and greeted students participating in the Entrepreneurship Sharing Session held at the venue.
“Congratulations to Archipelago Café, an impressive initiative managed by the entrepreneurial students of the Faculty of Philosophy,” he remarked.
Faizal expressed his admiration for how the facility has been maximized to support students’ capacity development. He also praised the café’s management for their ability to serve high-quality coffee.
“Excellent work—keep it up and best of luck,” he said.
Dr. Iva Ariani, Vice Dean for Research, Community Service, Cooperation, and Alumni, explained that the facility was designed to foster students’ interest and enthusiasm in entrepreneurship. The café’s operations involve students who have undergone training through the Career Development Center of the Faculty of Philosophy, allowing them to directly apply the knowledge they have acquired.
“Students learn more effectively when they can see and experience practical applications firsthand,” Iva explained.
To Faizal and the Pos Indonesia delegation, Iva elaborated on the student entrepreneurship development programs that have been designed and implemented, with Archipelago Café serving as the central hub. In addition to involving experts and faculty members, these programs frequently invite alumni who have succeeded in various business ventures to contribute.
“We invite successful alumni to return to campus and share their knowledge with current students. This way, they can see the vast business opportunities available and feel motivated to follow in their seniors’ footsteps,” she added.
