The Faculty of Philosophy at Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) hosted a visit from SMA Negeri 14 Tangerang Regency on Thursday morning (January 9), held at the First Floor Hall of the Faculty of Philosophy. The visit was attended by 249 students and 18 accompanying teachers, all eager to learn more about UGM and the Faculty of Philosophy.
The event began at 9:00 AM with a brief opening by the moderator, followed by an insightful presentation by Dr. Rizal Mustansyir. He provided a comprehensive overview of UGM’s history as the first university established by the Indonesian government, its excellence as a leading educational institution, and various student admission pathways.
Dr. Rizal also elaborated on the Faculty of Philosophy, highlighting its reputation as a leading center for philosophical studies in Indonesia. He explained the curriculum and areas of study offered by the faculty, emphasizing the strategic roles its graduates play in diverse fields such as education, media, public policy, and human resource development.
During the Q&A session, students and teachers actively engaged with the speaker, asking questions about UGM’s admission process, scholarship opportunities, and the relevance of philosophy in everyday life. The enthusiastic questions demonstrated the participants’ keen interest and deep curiosity.
“This visit has given us new insights into UGM and the Faculty of Philosophy. The speaker’s explanations were very informative, and we feel inspired to continue learning and pursue higher education,” said one of the accompanying teachers.
The visit concluded with a group photo and an exchange of tokens of appreciation, symbolizing collaboration and mutual respect. The Faculty of Philosophy at UGM hopes that this activity will serve as a positive starting point for introducing philosophical education to the younger generation and fostering connections with educational communities across Indonesia.
