SMA Negeri 1 Ciruas Serang Regency Visits the Faculty of Philosophy UGM

The Faculty of Philosophy at Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) once again became the destination for an academic visit from high school students. This time, 220 students and accompanying teachers from SMA Negeri 1 Ciruas, Serang Regency, attended the event at the 1st Floor Selasar on Wednesday, January 22, to learn more about UGM and the Faculty of Philosophy.

During the event, Zainal Mustofa, S.S., the speaker, provided a comprehensive presentation about the history and advantages of UGM as one of the top universities in Indonesia. He explained the various student admission pathways, both through national selection and independent pathways, which serve as gateways for prospective students wishing to join the UGM academic community.

In the special session about the Faculty of Philosophy, the participants were invited to gain a deeper understanding of the discipline. Mr. Zainal explained that philosophy plays a key role in shaping critical and reflective thinking in various aspects of life. Students at the Faculty of Philosophy UGM are taught to analyze fundamental concepts in fields such as science, ethics, politics, and technology, which equips them with a competitive edge in various professions.

The participants’ enthusiasm was evident during the question-and-answer session. Students asked a wide range of questions, from the dynamics of studying at the Faculty of Philosophy to the role of philosophy in the workforce. The accompanying teachers expressed their appreciation for the opportunity provided by the Faculty of Philosophy UGM. They hope that this activity can broaden the students’ perspectives on the diverse study and career options available in the future.

The event concluded with a group photo as a symbol of unity and the exchange of souvenirs as a token of appreciation for the visit. The Faculty of Philosophy UGM remains committed to being an open educational space for high school students who want to learn more about philosophy and its strategic role in life.
