The Faculty of Philosophy at Universitas Gadjah Mada held a graduation send-off ceremony today (May 28) in the Ruang Persatuan, following the university-wide graduation procession at Grha Sabha Pramana. A total of 29 students officially graduated, with 20 of them earning the distinction of cum laude.
The warm and emotional ceremony was attended by faculty members, administrative staff, as well as the graduates’ parents and guardians. A familial atmosphere filled the room as each graduate’s name was called to receive congratulations from faculty leaders.
In her speech, the Dean of the Faculty of Philosophy, Prof. Dr. Rr. Siti Murtiningsih, S.S., M.Hum., expressed pride and gratitude to the graduates and their families for entrusting their children’s education to the Faculty.
“It is an immense joy to witness your sons and daughters today. It feels like just yesterday you entrusted them to us, and today we return them to you. Thank you for allowing us to accompany their growth and development throughout their studies,” she said.
The Dean emphasized the importance of continuing philosophical values beyond campus life. She affirmed that in an era filled with uncertainty, the reflective and adaptive thinking skills honed at the Faculty of Philosophy are valuable assets for the graduates.
“No matter which sector you work in, it is equally honorable. What matters most is to be beneficial to humanity. Be proud to be a graduate of the Faculty of Philosophy,” she concluded.
The graduating class representative, Yuda Pramudia, delivered a speech on behalf of his peers. He remarked that the moment of graduation marks not only the end of their studies but also the beginning of a journey as academic and reflective individuals.
“At this faculty, we learned to think critically with depth, to explore meaning rather than just memorize theories. Knowledge must always be grounded in wisdom and conscience,” Yuda said.
He also expressed gratitude to all lecturers, educational staff, and family members for their love and support throughout their studies. “I carry every act of kindness as a reminder that this achievement is not mine alone,” he added.
