The Faculty of Philosophy at Universitas Gadjah Mada held a socialization event for two key programs aimed at supporting students’ academic development and career readiness on Thursday, April 17, 2025. Held at the Faculty’s Persatuan Room, the event focused on two main topics: the Bachelor-to-Master Fast Track Program and the strategic use of the professional platform LinkedIn.
Two speakers from the faculty leadership were present to deliver the presentations. Dr. Agus Himmawan Utomo, S.S., M.Ag., Vice Dean for Academic and Student Affairs, provided an overview of the Fast Track Program. Meanwhile, Dr. Iva Ariani, S.S., M.Hum., Vice Dean for Research, Community Service, Collaboration, and Alumni, spoke on the importance of developing a professional student profile through LinkedIn.
Dr. Agus explained that the Fast Track Program is an accelerated academic path that allows students to pursue undergraduate and graduate studies in an integrated manner. “This program enables students to complete both their Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees within just five years,” he stated. The Faculty of Philosophy is launching this program for the first time in 2025, targeting sixth-semester students who meet specific eligibility criteria.
He further emphasized that students interested in the program should possess strong time management and writing skills. “Commitment and perseverance are crucial, as students will complete their undergraduate thesis while simultaneously beginning their graduate coursework,” he explained.
In the next session, Dr. Iva Ariani encouraged students to start building their professional identity in the digital space. “Many Philosophy students are active in organizations and participate in various academic and non-academic activities. These experiences should not remain undocumented but should instead be showcased on platforms like LinkedIn,” said Dr. Iva.
According to her, LinkedIn serves as a vital tool for presenting one’s achievements, building professional networks, and showcasing personal potential when entering the workforce or continuing graduate studies. She urged students to begin filling out their portfolios, writing about their experiences, and connecting with alumni and professionals in relevant fields.
Through this event, the Faculty of Philosophy UGM aims to better prepare students for academic and professional challenges through strategic planning and the use of relevant platforms.
