Fast Track Program for Undergraduate–Graduate Studies at the Faculty of Philosophy UGM Now Open

This year, the Faculty of Philosophy at Universitas Gadjah Mada officially opens registration for its new Fast Track Program, which integrates undergraduate and graduate-level studies. This accelerated program enables eligible undergraduate students to begin their master’s courses while completing their bachelor’s degree, thus offering a seamless transition into graduate studies in a related field.

The Fast Track Program is designed to prepare highly qualified and competitive graduates in a shorter time than the conventional route, while maintaining high academic standards. By joining the program, students can complete both Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in five years or less.

“One of the key advantages of this program is the significantly reduced duration of study. Additionally, we offer a reduction in tuition fees, which allows students to save on educational expenses,” explained Dr. Agus Himmawan Utomo, S.S., M.Ag., Vice Dean for Academic and Student Affairs.

To be eligible, applicants must be sixth-semester undergraduate students who have completed a minimum of 110 credits and have taken part in the Community Service Program (Kuliah Kerja Nyata or KKN) by the time the Fast Track Program begins. Applicants are also required to submit recommendations from their thesis advisor (or potential advisor) and two additional faculty members who align with their academic interests.

In addition to the application form, students must include several supporting documents: a certificate of English proficiency, an Academic Potential Test (TPA) score, a study plan, and a signed statement declaring their commitment to completing both degree programs on time.

“Students interested in this program must have strong time management and academic writing skills. Commitment and perseverance are essential, as students will be completing their undergraduate thesis while simultaneously starting graduate coursework,” added Dr. Agus.

Under this program, students will continue to pay 100% of their undergraduate tuition fees (UKT) during semesters 7 and 8. For the graduate level, they will receive a discount—paying only 50% of the tuition for the first and second semesters, and 75% for the subsequent semesters.

The registration period runs from April 21 to May 30, 2025. After the submission period, a selection process will be conducted by the program coordinators and assigned faculty members. Selected applicants will be announced on June 13, 2025, and will proceed with online registration after the faculty submits the approved list to the university. Participants will officially begin their graduate studies in August 2025, aligning with the seventh semester of their undergraduate program.
