The Faculty of Philosophy, Universitas Gadjah Mada, officially launched its student orientation program Pionir Dialektika on Tuesday, August 6, 2025. This activity forms part of Pionir Gadjah Mada, which runs from August 4 to 16, 2025, and serves as the official welcoming event for 164 “young philosophers”—the distinctive term for new students at the Faculty of Philosophy. They were admitted through various pathways, including the National Selection Based on Achievement (SNBP), with 43 students from the National Selection Based on Test (SNBT), and 77 students from the Independent Selection track.
In her welcoming remarks, Dean of the Faculty of Philosophy, Prof. Dr. Rr. Siti Murtiningsih, S.S., M.Hum., conveyed warm greetings and words of encouragement to the participants.
“Congratulations, you are the chosen ones. Welcome to this faculty. Make the most of your time here, and prepare yourselves to become future leaders of the world,” she stated.
The two-day orientation, held on August 6–7, was designed as an introductory learning space to familiarize new students with academic life, intellectual culture, and the values of nationalism and humanity that underpin education at the Faculty of Philosophy.
A variety of activities were included in the program, such as introductions to faculty members, presentations on campus facilities and services, academic sessions, philosophical discussions and debates, as well as inspirational forums featuring prominent academics.
With its communicative and dialectical approach, the orientation not only provided information but also encouraged active engagement with campus dynamics from the very first day. The program aimed to help students adapt to their new environment and begin their academic journey with confidence.
“Use your time and opportunities wisely. Do not waste a single moment. Build networks, foster friendships, and stay focused on your studies. In three years, we will meet again at your graduation as philosophy graduates,” the Dean concluded.
