The Faculty of Philosophy, Universitas Gadjah Mada, held a Parents’ Reception for New Students on Monday, August 4, 2025, at the Faculty’s Hall. This event served as an important occasion to welcome the “young philosophers”—a term for the new students—and to strengthen collaboration between the faculty and parents in supporting the students’ educational journey.

The program followed a similar university-level event earlier that morning at Grha Sabha Pramana UGM. Parents and guardians were then directed to their respective faculties for sessions that introduced them more closely to the academic environment where their children will study and grow.

In her address, Dean of the Faculty of Philosophy, Prof. Dr. Rr. Siti Murtiningsih, S.S., M.Hum., expressed her gratitude for the trust given by the parents.
“Thank you for entrusting the Faculty of Philosophy to educate your children. We believe you have guided them well thus far. Moving forward, we will work together to educate them. This requires good collaboration,” she stated.

She further emphasized the faculty’s commitment to equipping students with critical, analytical, and creative thinking skills as essential tools for navigating an ever-changing world. “I believe that graduates of the Faculty of Philosophy will be able to contribute meaningfully,” she added.

Vice Dean for Academic and Student Affairs, Dr. Agus Himmawan Utomo, S.S., M.Ag., then presented the curriculum structure, academic calendar, as well as various facilities and services available at the faculty. His explanation provided parents with a comprehensive overview of the academic journey their children will undertake.

The event also featured remarks from a parent representative, Emma Laila, S.Kom., M.Kom., mother of Yahya Sadewa Laksemana. In her address, she expressed pride and high hopes for the education provided at the Faculty of Philosophy, along with a readiness to support her child’s learning process.

Through this program, the Faculty of Philosophy not only welcomed new students but also established strong and communicative relationships with parents as strategic partners in guiding students through their academic life.
