The Faculty of Philosophy, Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), welcomed a visit from Madrasah Aliyah Negeri (MAN) 1 Surakarta on Wednesday (September 17), held at the Persatuan Hall, 3rd Floor of the Faculty of Philosophy. The visit was part of UGM’s Campus Tour program and was attended by 158 students and accompanying teachers.
The group was received by Suhartanto, S.IP., M.Sc., Head of the Academic and Student Affairs Working Group at the Faculty of Philosophy, who also served as the main speaker for the session. In his presentation, Suhartanto introduced UGM’s institutional profile and elaborated on the history, vision, and distinctive characteristics of the Faculty of Philosophy, one of the oldest faculties at the university.
Participants were also provided with information on the admission process, academic programs, and various student and scholarly activities within the faculty. The speaker further emphasized the importance of developing critical and reflective thinking skills as the foundation of intellectual character formation in higher education.
Before visiting the Faculty of Philosophy, the students took part in a guided campus tour led by UGM students, visiting several iconic locations such as Grha Sabha Pramana. Through this activity, participants were expected to gain firsthand insight into UGM’s academic life and be inspired to pursue higher education.
The visit concluded with an interactive Q&A session, during which students enthusiastically asked questions about the UGM admission process and opportunities for studying philosophy.
