The Faculty of Philosophy, Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), welcomed visits from two international educational institutions — the Instituto Superior de Filosofia e Teologia (ISFIT), Timor Leste, and the University of Melbourne, Australia — on September 30. The two meetings, held separately on the same day, explored various opportunities for academic collaboration in the fields of education, research, and international scholarly development.

The meeting with representatives from ISFIT Timor Leste was part of the ongoing partnership between the two institutions, which had previously signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). The discussion focused on plans to renew the cooperation agreement, emphasizing strengthened collaboration in education and research.

In addition to the faculty’s leadership, the visit was also attended by the Heads of the Undergraduate and Master’s Philosophy Study Programs, who discussed opportunities for curriculum development and enhancing the quality of learning for students from both institutions.

Meanwhile, the University of Melbourne’s visit opened new discussions on potential research collaboration and academic exchange. The meeting also highlighted the importance of strengthening international networks to advance cross-cultural studies and broaden philosophical understanding in a global context.

The Dean of the Faculty of Philosophy UGM, Prof. Dr. Rr. Siti Murtiningsih, S.S., M.Hum., stated that these visits mark an important step in expanding the faculty’s international cooperation. She emphasized that cross-national collaboration not only enriches the academic experience of students and lecturers but also reinforces the role of philosophy in addressing global challenges.

Through these engagements, the Faculty of Philosophy UGM reaffirms its commitment to being a hub for international dialogue and collaboration, and to fostering strategic partnerships that promote the advancement of education and research grounded in humanistic and scholarly values.
