The Faculty of Philosophy at Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) held the 2024 Philo Run, a unique event combining physical activity with philosophical reflection, on Sunday, November 24. Over 300 participants from various backgrounds, including students, faculty members, running communities, and the general public, joined the event, which was part of the celebrations for World Philosophy Day, themed “Philosophy of Well-Being.”
Taking place on the UGM campus, Philo Run offered a distinct twist on traditional running events. Along the 5-kilometer route, participants were greeted with philosophical quotes and reflections, encouraging them to contemplate the true meaning of well-being—not just in physical terms but also mental and spiritual health.
On Friday, November 22, 2024, the Faculty of Philosophy at Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) welcomed a visit from Sekolah Pembangunan Jaya, located in South Tangerang. A group of 30 students and 2 accompanying teachers attended the event, which took place in Room 502 of the Faculty’s Theology Building on the fifth floor.
The event began at 08:00 AM and was led by Suhartanto, S.IP., M.Sc., who provided valuable insights into the importance of studying philosophy. The participants had the opportunity to engage in direct dialogue with the speaker, expanding their understanding of philosophy’s role in various academic fields and everyday life.
The Faculty of Philosophy at Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) held a graduation ceremony for its undergraduate Philosophy students on Thursday, November 21, 2024, at the Faculty’s Unity Room. The event, attended by graduates, their families, and faculty members, was filled with warmth and emotion, as a form of appreciation for the students’ hard work in completing their studies.
In her speech, the Dean of the Faculty of Philosophy UGM, Dr. Rr. Siti Murtiningsih, S.S., M.Hum., expressed deep gratitude for the achievements of the graduates. “We, the entire Faculty of Philosophy community, are very grateful that your sons and daughters, entrusted to us years ago, have successfully completed their studies. This is a significant achievement for all of us, and we must be thankful together,” said the Dean in her address.
The Faculty of Philosophy at Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) organized a socialization session on Expert Field Groups (Kelompok Bidang Keahlian/KBK) on Wednesday, November 20, 2024. The event was attended by all faculty members and featured a presentation by Prof. Suadi, S.Pi., M.Agr.Sc., Ph.D., the Director of Human Resources at UGM.
During the session, Prof. Suadi explained the importance of KBK in the context of developing the expertise of lecturers at UGM. Although KBK is not explicitly mentioned in the Ministerial Regulation of Education and Culture, he clarified that this concept is closely related to the obligation of Professors to lead areas of expertise that are in line with the development of knowledge.

The visit was attended by 230 participants, consisting of 208 students and 22 accompanying teachers. The event took place in the Selasar area of the Faculty of Philosophy and lasted from 09:00 to 10:30 WIB.
The event was moderated by Moch. Najib Yuliantoro, S.Fil., M.Phil., and featured Dr. M. Rodinal Khair Khasri, S.Fil., M.Phil., as the key speaker. During the session, the students were introduced to various programs offered by the Faculty of Philosophy at UGM and gained insights into the role of philosophy in higher education.
On Friday, November 15, 2024, the Faculty of Philosophy at Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) received a study visit from Universitas Negeri Surabaya (UNESA). The visit was attended by 160 students and 1 lecturer, and was held in the Selasar area of the Faculty of Philosophy.
During the event, Dr. Sonjoruri Budiani Trisakti, M.A., Head of the Bachelor’s Program in Philosophy at UGM, delivered a presentation about the Faculty of Philosophy UGM. The visit aimed to provide a deeper understanding of academic life at UGM and to offer insights into the field of philosophy and higher education in Indonesia for the UNESA students.
On Thursday, November 14, 2024, the Faculty of Philosophy at Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) warmly welcomed a visit from SMAN 1 Bangorejo Banyuwangi. The visit involved 210 students and 18 accompanying teachers, who participated in the event from 08:00 to 09:00 WIB in the Selasar Room on the first floor.
During the event, Dr. Heri Santoso, M.Hum., a lecturer at the Faculty of Philosophy UGM, gave a presentation about the advantages of UGM, as well as detailed information about the Faculty of Philosophy. This included the programs offered and the faculty’s contributions to both the academic and social spheres. The discussion also provided essential information about new student admissions and tips on selecting the right academic program, helping the students prepare better for their future studies.
On Tuesday, November 12, 2024, the Faculty of Philosophy at Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) welcomed a visit from the Aqidah Philosophy Department of the Faculty of Ushuluddin at Universitas Darussalam (UNIDA) Gontor. Around 70 students and accompanying lecturers from UNIDA Gontor attended the visit, which aimed to expand academic knowledge and strengthen collaboration between the two higher education institutions, particularly in the fields of philosophy and religion.
The event took place in the Persatuan Room on the third floor of the Faculty of Philosophy UGM. During the visit, the UNIDA Gontor students participated in a public lecture and interactive discussion on the intriguing topic of the relationship between religion and science and technology (saintek).
On Friday, November 8, 2024, the Faculty of Philosophy at Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) welcomed a visit from SMA Negeri 2 Kuta Bali. A total of 65 students and 6 accompanying teachers attended the event at the Persatuan Room on the third floor to gain a deeper understanding of higher education and academic life at the Faculty of Philosophy UGM.
During this visit, Dr. Heri Santoso, a lecturer at the Faculty of Philosophy, served as the main speaker, providing valuable insights into the history of UGM, the strengths of the Faculty of Philosophy, and the various programs offered. Dr. Heri also shared information about the student admissions process and offered guidance on how to choose a major that aligns with the students’ interests and talents.
