The Faculty of Philosophy at Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) once again hosted an academic visit from a high school. This time, 250 students and 20 accompanying teachers from SMA Negeri 21 Bandung City had the opportunity to learn more about UGM and the Faculty of Philosophy during a discussion session held at the 1st Floor Selasar on Wednesday, January 22.

The event featured speaker Prof. Mukhtasar Syamsuddin, M.Hum., Ph.D of Arts, who delivered an engaging presentation about the history of UGM, its academic excellence, and the various student admission pathways available. He explained that UGM, as the oldest national university in Indonesia, has become a center for the development of knowledge that has made significant contributions across various fields, including philosophy. read more

During the event, Zainal Mustofa, S.S., the speaker, provided a comprehensive presentation about the history and advantages of UGM as one of the top universities in Indonesia. On January 14, 2025, the Faculty of Philosophy at Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) held a staff work meeting in the Persatuan Room, 3rd Floor. The event was attended by approximately 30 administrative staff members from various divisions, coming together to evaluate the achievements of 2024 and plan for the upcoming year.

The meeting was led by the Vice Dean for Finance, Assets, and Human Resources, Dr. Hastanti Widy Nugroho, S.S., M.Hum. In her presentation, she outlined several key university policies that will guide the faculty moving forward. One of the main topics discussed was the planned revision of the performance-based incentive assessment (IBK) scheme for administrative staff. She also reviewed the faculty’s performance targets for 2024, provided guidance, and introduced the core programs that will be the focus of the faculty in 2025. read more

The Faculty of Philosophy at Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) held a graduation ceremony for its undergraduate Philosophy students on Thursday, November 21, 2024, at the Faculty’s Unity Room. The event, attended by graduates, their families, and faculty members, was filled with warmth and emotion, as a form of appreciation for the students’ hard work in completing their studies.

In her speech, the Dean of the Faculty of Philosophy UGM, Dr. Rr. Siti Murtiningsih, S.S., M.Hum., expressed deep gratitude for the achievements of the graduates. “We, the entire Faculty of Philosophy community, are very grateful that your sons and daughters, entrusted to us years ago, have successfully completed their studies. This month, a team from the Faculty of Philosophy at Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), comprising lecturers and students, commenced a series of community service activities across various regions in Indonesia, including Singkawang, West Kalimantan, on June 19.

The community service activities in Singkawang focused on improving the community’s welfare through sustainable cooperative initiatives. The team organized a socialization event on cooperative formation at Al-Fattah Mosque in Nyarumkop Village, which was attended by local residents, mosque administrators, and religious study group members. read more

The Dean of the Faculty of Philosophy at Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), Dr. Rr. Siti Murtiningsih, S.S., M.Hum., and the Director of Ullen Sentalu Javanese Art and Culture Museum, Daniel A. Haryono, signed a memorandum of understanding between the two institutions on Thursday (18/4). The agreement aims to collaborate on preserving and developing Wayang (shadow puppetry) and advancing the university’s Tri Dharma principles, particularly in academic and student activities.

“The Faculty of Philosophy is committed to exploring and preserving the values and local wisdom of the archipelago, including those embodied in Wayang. This is also a key concern of Ullen Sentalu Museum. During his visit, he toured Archipelago Café, a co-working space and Entrepreneurship Laboratory established by the Faculty of Philosophy UGM with support from Pos Indonesia. The Faculty of Philosophy at Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) invited one of its alumni, M. Ganiswara Afif Kharisma, to share insights into the entrepreneurial world with students. During an event titled Entrepreneurship Sharing Session held on Friday (22/3) at Archipelago Café, Afif recounted his experiences in learning about entrepreneurship and starting a business at a young age.

Afif shared that his interest in becoming an entrepreneur emerged during his high school years. He began experimenting with selling goods to earn extra pocket money. However, it wasn’t until his time at UGM that he delved deeper into the world of entrepreneurship. Although he did not major in a business-related field, he gained significant knowledge through student programs and networks he built on campus. read more
