The Faculty of Philosophy at Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) held an orientation program for new Master’s and Doctoral students on Wednesday (5/2) in the Ketuhanan Meeting Room. In the Even Semester of the 2024/2025 Academic Year, the faculty welcomed 11 new students for the Master’s Program in Philosophy and 3 students for the Doctoral Program in Philosophy, who will commence their studies on February 17.

The Dean of the Faculty of Philosophy, Prof. Dr. Rr. On Thursday, January 30, a group of 270 students and teachers gathered in the 1st Floor Selasar Room to gain insights into the academic world, particularly in the field of philosophy. The event featured Dr. Rizal Mustansyir, M.Hum., as the main speaker, who provided a comprehensive presentation about UGM and the Faculty of Philosophy.

In the opening session, Dr. Rizal guided the students through the history and achievements of UGM, one of Indonesia’s oldest and most prestigious universities. He explained the various student admission pathways available and the academic advantages and opportunities that come with being part of UGM. A total of 182 students and 22 teachers from SMK Jakarta 1 visited the Faculty of Philosophy at Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) on Wednesday, January 22, to learn more about the academic world and philosophical thought. The event took place in the 3rd Floor Persatuan Room, featuring speaker Dr. M. Rodinal Khair Khasri, S.Fil., M.Phil., who provided an insightful presentation on UGM and the role of philosophy in various aspects of life.

In the first session, Dr. Rodinal explained the history of UGM as one of the oldest and largest universities in Indonesia, which has produced many national leaders. This time, 250 students and 20 accompanying teachers from SMA Negeri 21 Bandung City had the opportunity to learn more about UGM and the Faculty of Philosophy during a discussion session held at the 1st Floor Selasar on Wednesday, January 22.

The event featured speaker Prof. Mukhtasar Syamsuddin, M.Hum., Ph.D of Arts, who delivered an engaging presentation about the history of UGM, its academic excellence, and the various student admission pathways available. On January 14, 2025, the Faculty of Philosophy at Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) held a staff work meeting in the Persatuan Room, 3rd Floor. The event was attended by approximately 30 administrative staff members from various divisions, coming together to evaluate the achievements of 2024 and plan for the upcoming year.

The meeting was led by the Vice Dean for Finance, Assets, and Human Resources, Dr. Hastanti Widy Nugroho, S.S., M.Hum. In her presentation, she outlined several key university policies that will guide the faculty moving forward. One of the main topics discussed was the planned revision of the performance-based incentive assessment (IBK) scheme for administrative staff. The event, attended by graduates, their families, and faculty members, was filled with warmth and emotion, as a form of appreciation for the students’ hard work in completing their studies.

In her speech, the Dean of the Faculty of Philosophy UGM, Dr. Rr. Siti Murtiningsih, S.S., M.Hum., expressed deep gratitude for the achievements of the graduates. “We, the entire Faculty of Philosophy community, are very grateful that your sons and daughters, entrusted to us years ago, have successfully completed their studies. This month, a team from the Faculty of Philosophy at Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), comprising lecturers and students, commenced a series of community service activities across various regions in Indonesia, including Singkawang, West Kalimantan, on June 19.

The community service activities in Singkawang focused on improving the community’s welfare through sustainable cooperative initiatives. The team organized a socialization event on cooperative formation at Al-Fattah Mosque in Nyarumkop Village, which was attended by local residents, mosque administrators, and religious study group members. read more

The Dean of the Faculty of Philosophy at Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), Dr. Rr. Siti Murtiningsih, S.S., M.Hum., and the Director of Ullen Sentalu Javanese Art and Culture Museum, Daniel A. Haryono, signed a memorandum of understanding between the two institutions on Thursday (18/4). The agreement aims to collaborate on preserving and developing Wayang (shadow puppetry) and advancing the university’s Tri Dharma principles, particularly in academic and student activities.

“The Faculty of Philosophy is committed to exploring and preserving the values and local wisdom of the archipelago, including those embodied in Wayang. This is also a key concern of Ullen Sentalu Museum. Therefore, we believe that by leveraging each institution’s capabilities, we can achieve shared goals,” said the Dean of the Faculty of Philosophy. read more
