The Faculty of Philosophy, Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) has signed a Cooperation Agreement (PKS) with Universitas Brawijaya (UB) to strengthen institutional functions in the areas of learning, education, and professional training under the Merdeka Belajar–Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) framework, as well as the management of learning systems. The signing ceremony took place on Friday (October 10) in the Ketuhanan Meeting Room, Faculty of Philosophy UGM.

The agreement was signed by Prof. Dr. Rr. Siti Murtiningsih, S.S., M.Hum., Dean of the Faculty of Philosophy UGM, and Muh. Anas, Head of the UPT for Religious Guidance and Character Development at Universitas Brawijaya. The event was witnessed by members of the faculty leadership and representatives from both institutions.

This collaboration covers several strategic areas, including enhancing lecturer competencies through education and professional training programs, strengthening the management of mandatory curriculum courses (MKWK) at the university level, developing academic publications, and improving institutional quality. Through this partnership, both universities are committed to reinforcing the implementation of the MBKM program and building an adaptive, collaborative, and sustainable learning system.

In her remarks, Dean of the Faculty of Philosophy UGM, Prof. Dr. Rr. Siti Murtiningsih, emphasized the importance of managing foundational university courses as part of character formation and humanistic value development, as well as fostering inclusivity in higher education.

“It is inherent in our institution’s mission to manage foundational courses. Today we face various issues related to character formation. We must ensure these courses are not merely doctrinal or reduced to a curriculum requirement,” she stated.

Meanwhile, Muh. Anas expressed his appreciation for the warm welcome from the Faculty of Philosophy UGM and highlighted the value of learning from UGM’s experience in managing MKWK courses.

“We are grateful to be here and look forward to gaining many insights from this visit to the Faculty of Philosophy. As one of the leading faculties, Philosophy at UGM has well-established management of MKWK courses. We hope to learn from these developments and best practices,” he said.

Through this collaboration, the Faculty of Philosophy UGM and Universitas Brawijaya aim to create a more dynamic and value-oriented learning ecosystem, fostering national values, academic integrity, and inclusivity. This synergy reflects both institutions’ shared commitment to enhancing the quality of higher education in Indonesia through inter-university collaboration.
