UGM PPKS Task Force Holds Socialization on Prevention and Handling of Sexual Violence at the Faculty of Philosophy

As part of its efforts to raise awareness and understanding regarding the prevention and handling of sexual violence within Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), the Sexual Violence Prevention and Handling Task Force (Satgas PPKS UGM) organized the “Satgas PPKS Goes to Faculty” event with the theme “Prevention and Handling of Sexual Violence on Campus Based on Health Promotion (HPU).” This event was held on Monday, November 11, 2024, at the Persatuan Room, 3rd Floor, Faculty of Philosophy, UGM. read more

UGM Faculty of Philosophy Holds Excellence in Service Workshop for Cleaning and Security Staff

On Saturday, November 9, 2024, the Faculty of Philosophy at Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) organized a workshop on Excellence in Service, attended by around 30 participants, including cleaning and security staff from the Faculty of Philosophy. Held at Hotel Platinum, the event aimed to improve the quality of service and professionalism in daily tasks, particularly in the areas of cleanliness and security within the campus environment.

The event was opened by Dr. Hastanti Widy Nugroho, S.S., M.Hum., Vice Dean for Finance, Assets, and Human Resources at the Faculty of Philosophy. In her remarks, Dr. Hastanti emphasized the crucial role of cleaning and security personnel in creating a comfortable, safe, and conducive campus environment for academic activities. “Good service is not only measured by performance but also by the attitude and professionalism in interactions with students, faculty, and the entire academic community,” said Dr. Hastanti. read more

Reviewing Don Ihde’s Thought in the Great Philosophers Discussion

On Wednesday, October 30, 2024, the Faculty of Philosophy at Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) hosted another session of its Great Philosophers discussion series, this time focusing on the theme “Don Ihde: Embodying, Interpreting, and Globalizing with Technology.” Held at the Reading Room of the Faculty of Philosophy Library, the event saw a high level of enthusiasm from participants.

Moderated by Ilham Perdana Lazuardhi, the discussion featured Ariful Fathoni as the key speaker, who explored the philosophy of Don Ihde, a leading figure in the field of philosophy of technology. The discussion delved into how technology is not just a tool but also shapes the way humans understand and experience the world. read more

UGM Philosophy Students Participate in Field Study in Bali, Learn Local Wisdom and Multiculturalism

A total of 144 students from the Faculty of Philosophy at Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), Class of 2022, participated in a unique learning experience during a field study in Bali from November 15-19. This program invited students to explore the philosophical values embedded within the multicultural society of Bali, while enriching their understanding of the relationship between local wisdom and social harmony.

“Every year, we bring a cohort of students to learn within society, to observe how people live and interact with one another,” said Dr. Sartini, one of the faculty members accompanying the students during the field study. read more

Encouraging the Younger Generation to Preserve Culture, Faculty of Philosophy Opens Registration for Macapat and Geguritan Video Competition

The Nusantara Philosophy Laboratory (Lafinus) of the Faculty of Philosophy at Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) has opened registration for the Macapat and Geguritan Video Competition, which is open to students in grades 7-9 from junior high schools (SMP/MTs) across the Special Region of Yogyakarta. This competition aims to promote Javanese cultural arts, particularly macapat and geguritan, while fostering an appreciation among the public, especially the younger generation, to preserve the noble culture of Indonesia. read more

Students from Various Countries Learn Pancasila and Nusantara Culture at UGM’s Faculty of Philosophy

Twelve students from various countries participated in a two-week study program at the Faculty of Philosophy, Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), through the School of International Training (SIT) Study Abroad program. Held from October 7 to 17, 2024, the program carried the theme “Arts, Religion, and Social Change,” guiding students to explore the arts and religions that shape the socio-cultural discourse in Indonesia.

“We hope there will be engaging and beneficial discussions for the students, both for SIT participants and our own students, especially on the important topics covered,” said Dr. Iva Ariani, S.S., M.Hum., Vice Dean for Research, Community Service, Cooperation, and Alumni at the Faculty of Philosophy. read more

Faculty of Philosophy Provides Free Breakfast for Students During Mid-Semester Exams

The Faculty of Philosophy at Universitas Gadjah Mada launched a free breakfast program for students during the Mid-Semester Exams (UTS). This initiative, which ran from September 30 to October 11, 2024, aimed to support students’ well-being and concentration during their exams.

The free breakfast, consisting of packed rice (nasi bungkus), was served at the angkringan located along the Faculty’s corridor. The meals were available daily from morning to noon, with the goal of providing students with an energy boost before or after their exams. The menu offered a variety of simple yet practical options, in line with the traditional and popular food culture of Yogyakarta. read more

Doctoral Students from Various Countries Study Ethics and Peace at UGM Faculty of Philosophy

The Faculty of Philosophy at Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) welcomed a group of doctoral students and scholars from various countries on Tuesday, October 1, to study the role of philosophy and religion in the context of a technologically advanced world. This activity was part of the Globethics Doctoral School (GDS) program, which is a collaboration between Universitas Gadjah Mada and Globethics.

Faculty of Philosophy UGM Forms HPU Work Team to Promote Health and Well-being

In line with its commitment to enhancing the health and well-being of its academic community, the Faculty of Philosophy at Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) has established the Health Promoting University (HPU) Work Team, as stated in the Dean’s Decree No. 48/UN1.FFI/KPT/SDM/2024. The team is led by the Head of the Faculty Administration Office, Zainal Mustofa, S.S., with Shoim Mardiyah, S.Fil., M.Sc. serving as the Coordinator for Training, Facilities, and Infrastructure.

As an initial step in formulating the action plan for the newly formed HPU team, the Faculty of Philosophy organized a Workshop on Developing the HPU Work Plan on Tuesday, September 17, at the Faculty’s Union Meeting Room. The workshop featured two expert speakers: Prof. Dra. Yayi Suryo Prabandari, M.Si., Ph.D., and Dr. Supriyati, S.Sos., M.Kes., both of whom serve as the Chair and Secretary of the UGM HPU, respectively. They shared strategic insights into the development of HPU programs. read more

UGM Faculty of Philosophy Collaborates with Uniwara to Develop Pancasila Studies in Higher Education

The Faculty of Philosophy at Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) has once again reaffirmed its strategic role in supporting the implementation and internalization of Pancasila values, particularly within higher education.

On Saturday, August 24, a team of UGM faculty members conducted a workshop on the Development of Pancasila Studies in Higher Education at the Postgraduate Auditorium, Building C Samiadi, Universitas PGRI Wiranegara (Uniwara) in Pasuruan, East Java. The event was attended by lecturers from various study programs at the university. read more
