SMAN 2 Solok Visits the Faculty of Philosophy UGM

On Tuesday, October 29, 2024, the Faculty of Philosophy at Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) welcomed a visit from SMAN 2 Solok. Held in the Ketuhanan Meeting Room on the 5th floor, the event was attended by 35 students and 7 accompanying teachers.

The visit featured Zainal Mustofa, S.S., Head of the Faculty Administration Office, and Suhartanto, S.IP., M.Sc., Coordinator of Academic and Student Affairs, as the main speakers. They delivered comprehensive presentations covering various topics, including the history, strengths, and diverse study programs at UGM, along with an introduction to the Faculty of Philosophy. Participants also received valuable information on the admission process, the achievements of philosophy alumni, and strategic advice for choosing a major. read more

SMAN Glenmore Banyuwangi Visits the Faculty of Philosophy UGM

On Thursday, October 17, 2024, the Faculty of Philosophy at Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) welcomed a visit from SMAN Glenmore Banyuwangi. A total of 250 students and accompanying teachers filled the 1st-floor atrium, creating an atmosphere of enthusiasm and excitement.

Dr. Heri Santoso, M.Hum., served as the main speaker for the event, delivering a range of engaging presentations. His session included an introduction to Universitas Gadjah Mada—covering its history, strengths, and diverse study programs—as well as specific insights into the Faculty of Philosophy. He also shared information about alumni achievements, strategies for choosing a major, and details on the university’s admission process. read more

Faculty of Philosophy UGM Welcomes Visit from SMAN 1 Abiansemal

On Friday, October 11, 2024, the Faculty of Philosophy at Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) warmly welcomed a visit from SMAN 1 Abiansemal. Over 100 students and accompanying teachers gathered at the faculty’s atrium to learn more about UGM and the world of philosophy.

During the visit, participants were greeted by Suhartanto, Coordinator of Academic and Student Affairs at the Faculty of Philosophy. He provided an insightful introduction to Universitas Gadjah Mada and highlighted the Faculty of Philosophy’s role as a hub for intellectual and philosophical development. UGM Philosophy Students Participate in Field Study in Bali, Learn Local Wisdom and Multiculturalism

A total of 144 students from the Faculty of Philosophy at Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), Class of 2022, participated in a unique learning experience during a field study in Bali from November 15-19. This program invited students to explore the philosophical values embedded within the multicultural society of Bali, while enriching their understanding of the relationship between local wisdom and social harmony.

“Every year, we bring a cohort of students to learn within society, to observe how people live and interact with one another,” said Dr. Sartini, one of the faculty members accompanying the students during the field study. read more

Encouraging the Younger Generation to Preserve Culture, Faculty of Philosophy Opens Registration for Macapat and Geguritan Video Competition

The Nusantara Philosophy Laboratory (Lafinus) of the Faculty of Philosophy at Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) has opened registration for the Macapat and Geguritan Video Competition, which is open to students in grades 7-9 from junior high schools (SMP/MTs) across the Special Region of Yogyakarta. This competition aims to promote Javanese cultural arts, particularly macapat and geguritan, while fostering an appreciation among the public, especially the younger generation, to preserve the noble culture of Indonesia. read more

Students from Various Countries Learn Pancasila and Nusantara Culture at UGM’s Faculty of Philosophy

Twelve students from various countries participated in a two-week study program at the Faculty of Philosophy, Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), through the School of International Training (SIT) Study Abroad program. Held from October 7 to 17, 2024, the program carried the theme “Arts, Religion, and Social Change,” guiding students to explore the arts and religions that shape the socio-cultural discourse in Indonesia.

This activity was part of the Globethics Doctoral School (GDS) program, which is a collaboration between Universitas Gadjah Mada and Globethics.

Faculty of Philosophy Initiates the Development of a Cultural Arts and Literacy Studio in West Sumatra

In line with its commitment to supporting the preservation of culture and local wisdom, the community service team from the Faculty of Philosophy, Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), has initiated the development of the Sanggar Salareh Nan Jombang in Nagari Koto Gadang, Agam Regency, West Sumatra. This studio aims to serve as a center for cultural arts and literacy, incorporating digital technology.

This initiative is part of the community service activities led by a team of faculty members, including Prof. Armaidy Armawi, Dr. Iva Ariani, and Shoim Mardiyah, S.Fil., M.Sc., which began in 2023. The community service activities focus on coaching, mentoring, and training in the use of information technology. The studio’s inauguration took place on Thursday, August 22. read more
