UGM PPKS Task Force Holds Socialization on Prevention and Handling of Sexual Violence at the Faculty of Philosophy

As part of its efforts to raise awareness and understanding regarding the prevention and handling of sexual violence within Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), the Sexual Violence Prevention and Handling Task Force (Satgas PPKS UGM) organized the “Satgas PPKS Goes to Faculty” event with the theme “Prevention and Handling of Sexual Violence on Campus Based on Health Promotion (HPU).” This event was held on Monday, November 11, 2024, at the Persatuan Room, 3rd Floor, Faculty of Philosophy, UGM. read more

UGM Philosophy Students Participate in Field Study in Bali, Learn Local Wisdom and Multiculturalism

A total of 144 students from the Faculty of Philosophy at Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), Class of 2022, participated in a unique learning experience during a field study in Bali from November 15-19. This program invited students to explore the philosophical values embedded within the multicultural society of Bali, while enriching their understanding of the relationship between local wisdom and social harmony.

“Every year, we bring a cohort of students to learn within society, to observe how people live and interact with one another,” said Dr. Sartini, one of the faculty members accompanying the students during the field study. read more

Encouraging the Younger Generation to Preserve Culture, Faculty of Philosophy Opens Registration for Macapat and Geguritan Video Competition

The Nusantara Philosophy Laboratory (Lafinus) of the Faculty of Philosophy at Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) has opened registration for the Macapat and Geguritan Video Competition, which is open to students in grades 7-9 from junior high schools (SMP/MTs) across the Special Region of Yogyakarta. This competition aims to promote Javanese cultural arts, particularly macapat and geguritan, while fostering an appreciation among the public, especially the younger generation, to preserve the noble culture of Indonesia. read more

Students from Various Countries Learn Pancasila and Nusantara Culture at UGM’s Faculty of Philosophy

Twelve students from various countries participated in a two-week study program at the Faculty of Philosophy, Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), through the School of International Training (SIT) Study Abroad program. Held from October 7 to 17, 2024, the program carried the theme “Arts, Religion, and Social Change,” guiding students to explore the arts and religions that shape the socio-cultural discourse in Indonesia.

“We hope there will be engaging and beneficial discussions for the students, both for SIT participants and our own students, especially on the important topics covered,” said Dr. Iva Ariani, S.S., M.Hum., Vice Dean for Research, Community Service, Cooperation, and Alumni at the Faculty of Philosophy. read more

Doctoral Students from Various Countries Study Ethics and Peace at UGM Faculty of Philosophy

The Faculty of Philosophy at Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) welcomed a group of doctoral students and scholars from various countries on Tuesday, October 1, to study the role of philosophy and religion in the context of a technologically advanced world. This activity was part of the Globethics Doctoral School (GDS) program, which is a collaboration between Universitas Gadjah Mada and Globethics.

UGM Faculty of Philosophy Collaborates with Uniwara to Develop Pancasila Studies in Higher Education

The Faculty of Philosophy at Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) has once again reaffirmed its strategic role in supporting the implementation and internalization of Pancasila values, particularly within higher education.

On Saturday, August 24, a team of UGM faculty members conducted a workshop on the Development of Pancasila Studies in Higher Education at the Postgraduate Auditorium, Building C Samiadi, Universitas PGRI Wiranegara (Uniwara) in Pasuruan, East Java. Faculty of Philosophy Initiates the Development of a Cultural Arts and Literacy Studio in West Sumatra

In line with its commitment to supporting the preservation of culture and local wisdom, the community service team from the Faculty of Philosophy, Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), has initiated the development of the Sanggar Salareh Nan Jombang in Nagari Koto Gadang, Agam Regency, West Sumatra. This studio aims to serve as a center for cultural arts and literacy, incorporating digital technology.

This initiative is part of the community service activities led by a team of faculty members, including Prof. Armaidy Armawi, Dr. Iva Ariani, and Shoim Mardiyah, S.Fil., M.Sc., which began in 2023. The community service activities focus on coaching, mentoring, and training in the use of information technology. The studio’s inauguration took place on Thursday, August 22. read more

Community and Faculty of Philosophy UGM Collaborate to Strengthen Religiosity Based on Local Wisdom in Purbalingga

The Faculty of Philosophy at Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) has once again demonstrated its commitment to contributing to society through a service program focused on strengthening religiosity based on local wisdom.

The program was carried out in Tawangsari Village, Purbalingga Regency, Central Java, on July 18, under the title “Synergy Between the Community and the Faculty of Philosophy UGM in Strengthening Religiosity Based on Local Wisdom in Tawangsari Village, Purbalingga, Central Java.”

“People of Tawangsari possess strong religious character. Its application needs to be linked with positive relationships across various sectors with other people,” said Fitri Alfariz, S.Fil., M.Phil., the head of the service team, which also included Prof. Dr. Lasiyo, M.A., M.M., and Dela Khoirul Ainia, S.Fil., M.Phil. read more

Wayang Performance at the 57th Anniversary of the Faculty of Philosophy Showcases Student Puppeteer

The traditional wayang kulit (shadow puppet) performance has been an inseparable part of the annual Dies Natalis celebrations at the Faculty of Philosophy, Universitas Gadjah Mada. However, this year’s performance, held on Monday night (August 19), brought something new. The puppeteer selected to perform was a UGM student, Ki M. Rafì Nur Fauzy. The gamelan musicians and the sinden (traditional female singer) who accompanied the performance were also students, members of the UGM Surakarta Style Javanese Arts Unit (UKJGS). read more

57th Anniversary of the Faculty of Philosophy UGM: Reflection and Challenges in the Age of Technology

The Open Senate Meeting held today (August 19) marked the culmination of the 57th anniversary celebrations of the Faculty of Philosophy, which has been ongoing since May. The event, held at the Philosophy Building Auditorium, was attended by the Rector of Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), Prof. dr. Ova Emilia, M.Med.Ed., Sp.OG., Ph.D., along with deans from various faculties and schools, members of the Faculty Senate, faculty members, administrative staff, and students.

In her report, the Dean of the Faculty of Philosophy highlighted that 57 years is a significant milestone that reflects the maturity and development of the institution. The anniversary celebration is not just a ceremonial event, but also a moment for reflection on the long journey that has been shared together. read more
